The Curious Dictionary
Lexi and Al Hunter are twins with almost nothing in common – except their parents and their birthday! At school Lexi hangs with her friends in the cool crowd, while Al hides in the library reading about history, battles and faraway places. When the twins stumble upon an old dictionary, their world as they know it changes. They are blasted into history to hunt down the words that threaten to vanish from our past and our present. The Lost Hunters
Lexi and Al thought they had seen it all – time travel, epic battles, ancient cities on the point of collapse and . . . vomiting rats. But nothing has prepared them for the realisation that their missing grandfather is a word hunter too and has been lost in the past. Only Lexi and Al can save him. But how do you find someone in 3,000 years of history? With more battles, more action and more words, these hunters are discovering history like never before, as they search for their grandfather – the lost hunter.

The final battle is coming, the grey-robes are armed and dangerous and ready for war. Lexi, Al and their friends are ready too – or as ready as they can be. The journey so far has been harder than they imagined – they have fought ancient warriors, searched long-lost cities for clues, and trained night and day for the moment when they face their arch enemy. But will it be enough? Can they defeat him and save the English language forever? Ornithorhynchus
It was a running joke with my father and I. He’d walk in after work and say “ornithorhynchus, spell it” with the answer being I T, but one day I learnt how to spell the word properly – Dad had to get the dictionary to see that I’d spelt it correctly. 🙂

My favourite word is ‘wunderkammer’. Awesome fun to say, and not only does it mean ‘cabinet of curiosities’, but I think it sounds like a word that could be exclaimed on walked into a truly amazing wunderkammer.

‘Susurrus’ is my favourite word: it demonstrates exactly what it means, and it’s so poetic and beautiful. Unfortunately, it’s not used often enough nowadays!

“Encyclopedia”
This word makes my Blood Race with excitement – has done since I was ‘wee’. The Books were so special. Each had it’s own magic. I would lie on the floor, with an Encyclopedia for eons at a time, absorbing and appreciating marvellous things. My imagination went on some truly extraordinary and wondrous adventures.
Somehow “Wikipedia” just isn’t the same!!

My favorite word is Pogonip. It is a thick fog with ice crystals in it, otherwise known as an ice fog.
I like this word because it rolls off my tounge and when I call someone a pogonip they have absolutely no idea what it is. 🙂
