Romance at Booktopia’s Nine Naughty Questions: Travel Edition with… Simone Elkeles

by |October 25, 2013

While travelling through the U.S.A, Booktopia’s Romance Specialist Haylee Nash has been catching up with some of America’s best romance authors. In Chicago, Haylee got the chance to meet with the bestselling, and hilarious, author of Young Adult and New Adult romantic fiction, Simone Elkeles.

From a gorgeous apartment in a seedy part of town, I emailed Simone Elkeles to see if she’d be willing to come over for a short interview. Sure, she said. We were in the middle of cooking French Toast, so I emailed back and asked if she’d like to join us for breakfast.  Of course! She’d already eaten, but she couldn’t pass up French Toast.

After she arrived, we introduced ourselves and quickly got down to the business of stuffing ourselves with the fried bread, topped with salted caramel and chocolate ice cream from one of the local ice

creameries, and Simone told us the best parts of town to visit, amongst other things, and generally made us feel completely at ease. By the end of breakfast, it felt like we were old friends.

We then rolled ourselves to the sitting room, and began filming. If the camera shakes, I apologise – I found it difficult to keep from giggling during the interview.

After filming, Simone showed me some presents she’d brought –  a copy of her latest book, Wild Cards, a cheerleader tank top and a football jersey, both bearing the Fremont High Rebels logo from her book. What a gal! She has also given me two more of the tank tops and jerseys, and her publisher Bloomsbury have offered two copies of Wild Cards, all for an exclusive Booktopia giveaway. What do you have to do to win one of each of these? Go to the Romance at Booktopia facebook page to find out!

WARNING: This series is SERIOUSLY ADDICTIVE!!!

Haylee Nash could never move to Chicago as the city’s delicious food would surely bring about her early demise. However, living close to Simone Elkeles might just be worth it. Haylee Nash is the Romance Specialist at Booktopia.
