Australian authors really brought some magic novels this year. However my absolute favourite author has to be debut novelist Scott Bakers ‘The Rule of Knowledge’. Never have I read an action adventure novel with so much depth and heart. It was truly wonderful.
My second favourite was the dependable Michael Robotham, whose crime novels consistently surprise with original and intriguing storylines. ‘Watching you’ was phenomenal.

  • Jason Warwick

    January 15, 2014 at 11:39 pm

John Flanagan all the way he has changed my life by his Rangers Apprentice series and showed that even orphans are sometimes the exact person for the job. And his Brotherband series is just completely wonferful and this one shows that even the unwanted are valuable and a great service to their country. In both series he has showed that even the littlest or unwanted or a different nationality to you can still stand up to bullies and be off service in the future. JOHN FLANAGAN SHOULD WIN WITHOUT A VOTE CAUSE HE IS JUST THAT GOOD.

  • Lesley Grove

    January 16, 2014 at 9:08 am

  • Yasmin O'Neill

    January 16, 2014 at 5:57 pm

    I love Traci Harding books

  • January 16, 2014 at 6:14 pm

Tony Park Australia’s Wilbur Smith , better than him ..up to date topics action and wonderful descriptions of life in Africa and has my wife Sandy and me waiting to read more… If any complaints he takes to long to get to his next book in the UK ..but got my vote ..great author

  • January 16, 2014 at 6:24 pm

Tony Park is now the leading writer on thrillers and excitement on the African tragedies , occurrences and his novels are always tense and exciting ..never able to put the book down until it’s finished ..he replaces Wilbur Smith as number one in this category of adventures in Africa ..his knowledge and research into his books is sometimes overwhelming ..his writing style is one of putting the reading right into the action sex and thrills …and his knowledge of weapons , wild life ,African history and society even to street descriptions is exceptional ..he is worthy of being Australia’s top writer ..only complaint but I do overcome this is that his books are not easily available in the UK ..his publishers in UK take ages before his new books are available here ..that is not the authors fault …Wonderful writer and cannot wait nor can my wife Sandy wait for his next book to be available ,,,Good Luck Tony Park you deserve it .

Bryce Courtney, his passion comes out in his writing, and exuberates in every word.

  • January 17, 2014 at 7:59 pm

Andy Griffiths is my favourite novelist for 2014 for the love of reading he inspires in young people; regardless of the “just disgusting” behaviours he discusses. He is the superstar of kids’ literature (I’ve seen it in action – a frenzy akin to the appearance of a Hollywood A-lister). His novels recruit the bibliophiles of our future for which I am thankful. Cheers, Andy!
