Yesterday you voted in Heat 2, and once again the response was incredible, so thank you all for voting! Without further ado, your finalists for Heat 2 – and the authors who will be progressing to next week’s all-important final round – are…
Congratulations to these wonderful Australians!
It seems you love your contemporary fiction and rural romance, with Bronwyn Parry, Fiona Palmer, Karly Lane, Rachael Treasure, Natasha Lester, Kate Morton, and Judy Nunn all securing a place in next week’s final round!
Joining them is Jacqueline Harvey, author of the ever-popular Alice-Miranda and Clementine Rose series for children, and Isobelle Carmody, author of the long standing and beloved Young Adult series, The Obernewtyn Chronicles. Carmody won Booktopia’s Favourite Australian Author for 2016.
Australian greats such as Ruth Park, Colleen McCullough and Kate Grenville also made the cut: Park catapulted into fame when she won the inaugural Sydney Morning Herald Literary Competition in 1946 for her novel The Harp in the South; McCullough was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2006 for her service to the arts; and Grenville has won a slew of literary prizes, including the Vogel/Australian Prize for Lilian’s Story, of which was adapted to film.
