It’s finally happened. After being patient for a decade, fans of Artemis Fowl can look forward to the official release of the famous book’s film adaptation on August 9th, 2019.
Irish author Eoin Colfer’s number one bestseller is about twelve-year-old criminal mastermind Artemis Fowl, whose plans to kidnap and ransom a leprechaun from the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance Unit) goes awry.
Much-loved director-actor Kenneth Branagh (you may remember him from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets and Macbeth) is set to direct the film and award-winning actress Judi Dench is rumoured to have a role in the film, although it hasn’t yet been confirmed.
The film’s release is still a while away but at least now fans have a date to put in their diaries! Lock it in everyone: August 9th, 2019 – you know where we’ll be.
Twelve-year-old villain, Artemis Fowl, is the most ingenious criminal mastermind in history. His bold and daring plan is to hold a leprechaun to ransom.
But he's taking on more than he bargained for when he kidnaps Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon (Lower Elements Police Reconnaissance Unit). For a start, leprechaun technology is more advanced than our own.
Add to that the fact that Holly is a true heroine and that her senior officer Commander Root will stop at nothing to get her back and you've got the mother of all sieges brewing!
