    No, you are not getting pity for counting thousands of votes (lol) – the votes were electronic and would have been collated in less than 30 seconds!! What is good is to see so many people voting, and for some excellent Australian authors – I was surprised at the sheer numbers of authors that have been listed in Heats 1 and 2! I cannot wait for the final lists to be published – my top Australian author is …..

    You have my sympathy, since you asked for it, though I admit Philip’s comment has dampened it. I agree with the rest of his comment wholeheartedly. Now I have to look into all these author names I don’t recognize and see what I’ve been missing, even though my reading list (and house for that matter) is so full of great works awaiting my eyes (or ears in some cases) that I wouldn’t get everything consumed for probably another 20 years.
